The Arc of Alabama, Inc., is a non-profit, volunteer-based membership organization whose primary role is to advocate for the rights and protections of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.  This advocacy is provided through Information and Referral services, educational opportunities like the annual Alabama disAbility Conference, and public policy initiatives.

The Arc of Alabama provides chapter support to 30 local chapters across Alabama – all of them unique non-profit organizations sharing their passion for advocating and providing a variety of supports and services to those with I/DD and their families.  Whether promoting events or activities in an effort to increase awareness and fundraising initiatives, or marketing the brand of The Arc so to ensure members of the chapter’s local community know where to go to talk about their needs or desire to support our mission, The Arc of Alabama continuously promotes the efforts of local chapters to serve people with I/DD across their lifespan.

The Arc of Alabama is affiliated with The Arc of the United States, the largest organization in the United States devoted solely to working on behalf of people with developmental disabilities.  The Arc of Alabama, through this affiliation, fully embraces the position statements of The Arc o the United States and advocates for the same.  Visit www.thearc.org for more information about The Arc’s progressive advocacy initiatives on behalf of people with developmental disabilities and their families on a national level.
